Lysozyme is a polypeptide of 129 aminoacids isolated from chicken egg. The protein hydrolyzes (β 1-4) bonds between N-acetylmuramic acid and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine residues in peptidoglycan and between N-acetyl-D-glucosamine residues in chitodextrin.

Features

  • MW 14.3 kDa.
  • Specific Activity: ≥15 000 U/mg.
  • Active in a wide range of pH from 6 to 9, optimum pH 6.2.
  • Solubility in water: 10 mg/mL.
  • Inhibited by indole derivatives, imidazole and SDS.
